Due to the sensitivity of the topic it is understandable that Cambodian media have a hard time finding sources willing to provide their names for reports on corruption. This doesn’t prevent media from covering the topic: the five newspapers monitored for this survey produce so far an average of almost 500 corruption-related

stories a month, the four radio stations 150. Stories aired on radio are more verifiable than those in newspapers as radio reports tend to quote sources. Newspapers, both pro-government and otherwise, are filled with stories containing serious, many times anonymous, accusations of corruption committed by high ranking officials, politicians, police and army . Samples of these stories are presented in this edition, the focus of which is on forest- related corruption (page 2).
