 CSOs Seek to Understand and Provide Inputs for National Program for Sub-national Democratic Development

A consultative meeting​ between civil society organizations and Ministry of Interior (MoI) on draft of 10-Year National Program for Sub-National Democratic Development (NP-SNDD) was held on September 2,

2009 in Phnom Penh. The meeting was hosted by Commune Council Support Project (CCSP) and facilitated by NGO Liaison Office (NLO). Altogether 50 participants representing CSOs, development partners and officials from MoI attended the meeting.

This became the focus of public attention world over in 2008, when the international price of oil surged in the first six months, only to fall dramatically to a third of its peak value in the following five months. This briefing note discusses factors influencing the relationship between the prices of petroleum products on the world market and the domestic retail market.​

Introduction

 Corruption and its effects are a global dilemma. From small bribes paid to police officers in Bangladesh to the holding of stolen assets by banks, the impacts from these abuses on states and citizens are the same: the undermining of the rule of law, the violation of rights, opaque institutions, lost public resources and weakened national integrity.

To effectively address these problems, anti-corruption solutions need to be pursued through coordinated and deliberate action by international, national and local partners that use the same language and agree on its meaning
