 A. Background

The Second UN Interagency Anti-Corruption Coordination Meeting held in Vienna on 1- 2 July 2002 was a follow-up to the first such meeting in February 2002 which had mainly focused on taking stock of the various mandates and initiatives currently being pursued by the participating agencies in the field of anti-corruption activities. 1. Originally the interagency coordination initiative was launched by Ms. Louise Fréchette, the United Nations Deputy Secretary-General, who convened two meetings in New York on co-ordination of anti-corruption activities on 2 and 26 November 2001 – respectively.

 REPORT ON THE UNITED NATIONS INTERAGENCY ANTI-CORRUPTION COORDINATION MEETING

 

A. Background

The Meeting, which took place in Vienna on 4 and 5 February 2002, was organized to enhance the sharing of information and best practices across UN and other stakeholders in the fight against corruption.

 

1. The Meeting was the result of an initiative taken by Ms. Louise Fréchette, the United Nations Deputy Secretary-General, who convened two meetings in New York on coordination of anti-corruption activities on 2 and 26 November 2001. While it was agreed that the United Nations Office for Drug Control and Crime Prevention (ODCCP) held the United Nations global legislative mandate on anti-corruption, it had become clear that there were a variety of anti-corruption initiatives by various United Nations agencies.

On the occasion of the UN Human Rights Council, Second Session, Geneva, Switzerland

 

Title: Ongoing deterioration of human rights situation in Cambodia – Addendum to the Written Statement submitted to the First Session (A/HRC/1/NGO/18)1.

 

The Asian Forum for Human Rights and Development (FORUM-ASIA), together with its member organizations, the Cambodian Human Rights and Development Association (ADHOC) and the Cambodian League for the Promotion and Defense of Human Rights (LICADHO), wish to draw the Human Rights Council’s attention to the Cambodian government’s severe lack of commitment to and fulfillment of its human rights obligations. The three NGOs make this addendum to the previous statement submitted in June 20062.
